Donations

Rockway Gardens is managed by gardenKitchener (the Kitchener Horticultural Society). Its maintenance is funded by a grant from the City of Kitchener. The donations we receive go towards funding special projects and improvements, as well as to costs associated with unexpected expenses, such as theft, or damage.

In the last few years, changes to weather patterns and strong storms have resulted in significant tree loss and damage in Rockway Gardens. A rise in vandalism incidents has also resulted in increased maintenance and repair costs.

If you are interested in making a donation to help with tree restoration or vandalism repairs, please complete the form below. A gardenKitchener representative will be in touch to discuss next steps. Donations may also be accepted at Rockway Gardens, if staff members are on site.

Sponsoring or dedicating a tree at Rockway Gardens is available to individual donors, as well as some community organizations.

Interested individuals may have the option of sponsoring an existing tree at Rockway, or a new tree to be planted, depending on the garden’s capacity at the time.

Donors are expected to pay the cost of a plaque designating the donation, as well as any costs associated with the procurement of each tree sponsored. The individual cost of each tree can vary. The Rockway Gardens Supervisor will confirm all costs with the donor, prior to the planting of any trees.

The donation is deposited to the Rockway capital account, and will be used for ongoing maintenance of the tree. The donation will not be used for ongoing operating expenses.

As a not-for-profit/registered charity, gardenKitchener (the Kitchener Horticultural Society) can issue a tax receipt for the plaque and the donation. All details of the donation, as well as the legal name of the donor and the donor’s address are needed, in order to proceed with issuing a tax receipt.

All donations must be approved by the gardenKitchener Board of Directors, prior to proceeding with the donation.

While members of the community – both individuals and organizations – have in the past, sponsored the addition of structures such as benches, fountains, tables, chess tables, urns, statuary and gazebos, in memory of a friend or family member, Rockway Gardens is currently at capacity for these items. If donations of this kind become available in the future, this page will be updated accordingly.
