This event is now sold out! Thank you everyone, for your interest! Experience the joy of creative expression through the beauty of nature. Sogetsu Ikebana, a modern school of traditional Japanese flower arrangement, takes a liberal approach in creating beautiful arrangements ‘anytime, anywhere, by anyone’. Just as each plant has its own natural expression, each person also has their own creative expression, and each Sogetsu arrangement is unique.
In this two-hour workshop, our certified Sogetsu teacher, Michelle Stelter, will introduce participants to Sogetsu through learning the two basic styles, moribana and nageire, focusing on elementary structure, composition and design. Participants will make a vase arrangement that is easily dismantled and use their new skills to re-create their display at home.
Cost: $65 for gardenKitchener Members, $75 for non-members
Participants should bring:
• Large bowl for water
• Cylindrical or urn-shaped vase, 8″ or taller, and at least 4” in width
• Flower shears (or Ikebana scissors, called hasami)
Fresh flower materials will be provided.
